Wine Bottle Stoppers – What’s wrong with just using a regular cork?

Wine Bottle Stoppers

Do I really need one?

This is something I would consider a nice-to-have. Wine bottle stoppers are a great idea when you want something a little nicer to re-cork a bottle of wine between pours, or if you want to store the unfinished wine for another later occasion. This is especially true if you have a crumbing cork (no one likes little bits of cork in their wine!) or have one that’s punctured when opening the wine bottle. Also, they make great gifts as the receiver will be reminded of you (that’s the whole point right?) every time they use your wine bottle stopper gift. Just make sure you get one that suits their taste or they’ll sigh in disappointment each and every time! There are a ton of them out there today, running from classic designs to fun, whimsical pieces.

Here’s what to consider when shopping for one:

  • Will it be used for longer-term storage? If so, get one with a tight seal made of food-grade materials. Some of them are designed to allow bottles to rest on its side. This isn’t necessary as you won’t want to keep your unfinished wines for too long and resting it on its side only means more surface area exposed to air. That’s a bad thing.
  • Will you be putting the wine bottle into the refrigerator? If so, get a wine bottle stopper that’s smaller or flat. Otherwise, it will be too tall to fit in the fridge.
  • Is this a gift? If so, what’s the receiver’s style preference? There are so many options to choose from today so pick one that will reflect the recipient’s taste or interest.

That’s it! I hope you find this useful. Please visit WineGuppy for all your wine toys and accessories needs, and here is a direct link to ourĀ  Wine Bottle Accessories section. Have a great day!
